The Reverend Dr, Joyce Penfield is an older white woman with short red hair. She wears a leafy-patterned blouse in rich blue, turquoise, and indigo, and shimmering drop earrings. She smiles broadly for the camera.

Hello, I have started this fundraiser for my friend Scherrone to help finance her wheelchair lift van.

Your donations will help her move into now much needed supported housing because the van must be paid for before she can receive support services.

Please see the video below.

"All who wander are not lost."
Scherrone with short salt and pepper hair and two layers of COVID masks, sits in her power chair on a stone path outside the tasting room of Fabbioli Cellars in Virginia. A US flag just outside the building waves in the wind behind her. In front of the stone path, a garden filled with purple, orange, yellow and white flowers in spring bloom.
Scherrone wears a bright red blouse with floral design and royal blue pants. Her mom, Jane, and older Black woman in a white pants, rests her arms on the back of Scherrone's wheelchair and leans in close to pose for the picture. They both have on sunglasses and smile in front of a tree-lined river with a railroad bridge stretching out over the water behind them toward rocky hills.
Dressed for a summer day in a fuchsia tank top and white pants, Scherrone sits in her powe chair smiling and posing in a spot of shade at the International Civil Rights Walk of Fame. An array of plaques withnames and footprints outlines are laid into the cement of the promenade and reach far into the distance beyond her. In the foreground, the outlines of Rosa Parks' and Medgar Evers' shoes.
In a salmon top amd white sweater and two layers of COVID masks, Scherrone relaxes outside Fabbioli Cellars. A group of visitors sit under a giant umbrella at a table, tasting wines just beyond.

Thank you!

Your donations will help me move into supported housing sooner because the van must be paid for before I can receive support services.

Scherrone wears a COVID mask and transparent face shield, sitting in her power chair in front of a new shiny-blue van. Behind her, three of her godsons, also in COVID masks, stand just behind her and lean in for the photo. They're all dressed casually and pose outside tall, red brick apartment buildings.

Scherrone has been a great friend and fellow Christian. I met her at St. Michael's Chapel, Rutgers Campus Ministry when she was a student and I, a professor. I have marveled as I watched her not only gratuate from Rutgers, but then American University and then her many years of professional work at the U.S. Department of Rehabilitation. It has been a joy knowing her and her mother, Jane. They have been such a blessing to me and to many as witnesses to disability independence, love, and teaching others about disability justice.

I have known Scherrone since she was five years old. She has always been a hard worker who set goals and set a plan to accomplish them. She was guided to her success because of the initial leadership of her mother, Jane Dunhamn. Scherrone as she matured took on the leadership of her own success and the guidance of her personal and professional journey. The fundraiser to pay off her van will afford Scherrone the opportunity to continue contributing to the wider community.
